Here are some simple ways to ensure your businesses’ safety while working from home.
Use cloud-based storage.
The idea of backing up your work might only occur to you when it’s too late, don’t let that happen. Online storage allows you to keep your work in a safe place while also giving you the freedom to access your files whenever and wherever. This is great especially when working from home as we can’t predict what is going to happen, you can access your work from other devices even if something was to happen to your computer/laptop.
There are plenty of cloud-based storage platforms to choose from. Find one that works for you and your software. If your business is mostly working with Microsoft applications, then you might want to consider SharePoint. It’s available to businesses of all sizes and allows you to store and share documents and information with your colleagues and customers safely and securely.
Invest in collaboration tools.
There are so many collaboration apps and programmes out there to help us stay connected as a team, even when working remotely.
We recommend Microsoft Teams and Planner, they allow you to communicate, share and work with your colleagues, meaning all of your work is in one place and therefore organised and safe - no more files getting lost or overwritten.
It is also available on smartphones and tablets, giving you the option to switch devices when you need to.

Boost your security.
You may already have protection on your computer/ laptop, but is it suitable for running your business and working from home?
These are uncertain times and unfortunately a great opportunity for hackers to use it to their advantage. Don’t let this happen to you.
There is a variety of different anti-virus software out there, with many options to help you find the right one for you and your business. We use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. It offers a holistic approach to security and is compatible with and protects your Microsoft 365 apps, while also being a brand you know and can trust. It can also integrate with Microsoft Intune, which offers defence for your smartphone and devices.
We also recommend Azure information protection. This is a great option because it can help to secure your emails, documents, and sensitive data that you share outside of your company, giving you security and peace of mind when sharing with colleagues.
Cover yourself with insurance.
Now that you’re working from home, it might be a good idea to look at your insurance and make sure that you are fully covered. You are no longer working in an office environment, which means your workspace may be more susceptible to accidents that you didn’t have to consider before.
Of course, we want to avoid any accidents however, we can’t predict these kinds of things therefore it definitely is a good idea to protect yourself just in case. Especially if you’ve brought expensive equipment into your home. Check your cover to make sure you're protected.
